Man charged with shooting at police, other firearms offences
A man has been accused of shooting at police and other firearms-related offences.
Amir Bean, 20, was charged today in Magistrates’ Court with shooting at police with a loaded firearm and two counts of using a firearm to resist or prevent arrest.
He was also charged with possession of ammunition without a valid licence and possession of a firearm with a barrel shorter than 24 inches in length.
The incidents were alleged to have happened between August 23 and 24, 2024.
Mr Bean was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard in front of the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos released Mr Bean, from Southampton, on $50,000 bail.
She ordered him to give up any travel documents; wear an electronic tag once one was made available; adhere to an 8pm to 8am curfew; stay within the jurisdiction; and to not interact with anyone known to be in a gang.
Ms Sofianos adjourned the case until the next Supreme Court arraignment session on April 1.
