Drink-driver banned from roads

A woman involved in a Southampton collision has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Brittany Simmons, 31, admitted drink-driving when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that the collision involving a car and a bike occurred along Middle Road, near Lighthouse Hill, on March 4.

Simmons, from Southampton, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after the incident.

A test showed almost 146 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of Simmons’s blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg/100ml.

Simmons apologised for her actions yesterday and told the court that she learnt her lesson.

In addition to the ban, Simmons was fined $1,200 for the offence.
