Man in court over killing of Kawaje Raynor and pet
A man appeared in court this morning charged in connection with the deaths this month of a father of two and a dog.
It was alleged that Jayden Smith-Lightbourne, 21, with others, unlawfully killed Kawaje Raynor in Southampton on March 15.
A second charge alleged that he used a firearm in committing an indictable offence, namely murder.
Mr Smith-Lightbourne, from Warwick, was accused of “cruelly” killing a pet, “namely a dog called TuTu”, on the same day.
He was not required to enter pleas as the charges will be heard in the Supreme Court, where the defendant is scheduled to appear at the May arraignments session.
Magistrate Maria Sofianos remanded Mr Smith-Lightbourne in custody.
