Pharmacist admits eight criminal charges
A pharmacist who stole drugs and falsified records at a Hamilton pharmacy may be sentenced in the Supreme Court in May.
Craig Colwell, 62, admitted eight offences, including stealing 990 tablets or capsules of the prescription drug OxyNorm and falsifying “various pharmaceutical records” from the Woodbourne Chemist, when he appeared before the Supreme Court yesterday.
Colwell, from Southampton, also pleaded guilty to falsifying prescriptions and patient files, and having three drugs — OxyNorm, oxycodone and amphetamine salts — while “acting otherwise than [in his] capacity as a pharmacist”.
Colwell committed the offences between January 2021 and May 2025.
Allegations that he stole amphetamine salts and oxycodone and failed to keep a proper record of how much tramadol/acetaminophen, oxycodone and oxycodone/acetaminophen he supplied, remain on file.
Puisne Judge Alan Richards extended Colwell’s bail until May 15, when he may be sentenced for the offences.
