A man charged in connection with the murder of a father of two appeared in court yesterday.

It was alleged that Jayden Smith-Lightbourne, 21, with others, unlawfully killed Kawaje Raynor in Southampton on March 15.

A second charge alleged that he used a firearm in committing an indictable offence, namely murder.

Mr Smith-Lightbourne, from Warwick, was also accused of killing a pet dog called TuTu on the same day.

He was not required to enter pleas as the charges will be heard in the Supreme Court. The defendant is scheduled to appear at the May arraignments session.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos remanded Mr Smith-Lightbourne in custody.
