Not-guilty pleas entered for sex assaults, careless driving death
A 24-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denied two counts of serious sex assault on a woman when he appeared at the Supreme Court arraignments session yesterday.
He pleaded not guilty to serious sex assault with the use of a weapon and unlawful anal intercourse, both of which were alleged on March 19 in Sandys.
Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe adjourned the case until June 1 and remanded the man, from Warwick, in custody.
In another case, a 54-year-old woman denied sexually touching a young girl while in a position of trust.
The incident was alleged to have happened on September 26 last year.
Mr Justice Wolffe also adjourned this case until June 1 and extended her bail.
Rosetta Somersall, 60, pleaded not guilty to causing the death of Clyde Lee by driving without due care and attention.
The incident was alleged to have happened on July 21, 2024, with Mr Lee dying on December 3 last year.
Mr Justice Wolffe adjourned the case until July 6 and extended her $5,000 bail.
