Man, 19, charged with discharging firearm, smuggling

A teenager was remanded this morning after being accused of several firearms-related offences.

Josef Ferreira, 19, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with discharging bullets from a firearm on May 24.

He was also charged with conspiring with others between an unknown date and June 3 to import a firearm to Bermuda without a valid licence.

He was not required to enter a plea as the matters must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Tyrone Chin sent the matter to the Supreme Court and remanded Mr Ferreira, from Sandys, in custody.

The defendant is expected to next appear during the Supreme Court arraignments session on October 5.
