Cricket's shortened 2020 season has officially ended, with Southampton Rangers declared the Premier Division Twenty20 champions on net run rate over St David's.

The two teams were tied on points going into their head to head meeting last weekend which was postponed because of the approaching Hurricane Paulette.

With football due to start its league programme this weekend, the Bermuda Cricket Board confirmed yesterday that its cricket committee had decided that the final matches would not be rescheduled.

Warwick Workmen's Club and Flatts, who were scheduled to play in the First Division T20 final, have been declared the joint champions.

“The three clubs have been recognised as the league champions due to the final round of matches not being played on Sunday, September 13 at White Hill Field,” the Board said yesterday in a statement.

“The BCB congratulates the Southampton Rangers Sports Club, Warwick Workmen's Club and Flatts Victoria Recreation Club on winning the BCB T20 Premier and First Division championships of 2020 and look forward to a full season of matches in 2021.”

Only the T20 competition was held this season as the Covid-19 pandemic prevented a full schedule of games this summer, including the scrapping of Cup Match and county games for the first time.

The season ended last Saturday with the hosting of the Premier and First Division All-Star matches at White Hill Field, both won by the President's teams.
