Hemp happy with pressure victory
David Hemp was delighted to see his team end their training camp on a high, and felt the way they chased down 275 to win could only bode well for the future. The Bermuda skipper watched from the sidelines as Lionel Cann and Rodney Trott rescued their side from the precarious position of 140 for five.“What I liked about the win was that we were under pressure having got down to four or five wickets and still with a lot of runs on the board still to get it was a pressure situation,” he said. “It goes without saying that the experience of Lionel Cann and Rodney Trott as a foil for him helped. They have different types of games, one hits singles the other hits boundaries.“The pleasing thing was that it (their approach) was limited risk as well to some extent. It was a case of getting yourself in, keep ticking it over, the boundaries will be there to hit, and that was executed very well. We took the power play at a good time and then after that, it was unfortunate that Lionel got out when he did.”Again though Bermuda made the chase harder than it needed to be, and ended up digging themselves out of a hole that was largely of their own making.“There were probably a few soft dismissals and I don’t think we bowled as well as we can bowl, that goes without saying,” said Hemp.”“In the past we would have lost more games than we would have won. I think in the past, some of the teams I’ve played in, we would have been a lot more aggressive and come a long way short, rather than sticking to the game plan and holding our nerve.“I’m just really pleased we came out on top.”
