Make the world work for it!

Hi Guys! I’m sure by now that you have all gotten a taste of what is in store at this level. Here it is, The World Cup! This is what all the partying, celebrating and government funding was about. I’m sure it has been incredibly surreal just walking on the pitch for the first time. As overwhelming as it may seem, you guys have got to snap out of it. Don’t be intimidated by anyone out there. You belong here. Remember when you first picked up a bat or played in the back yard with 2x4’s and tennis balls.

You dreamed then and now it is here. Don’t waste it, because the whole of Bermuda has been dreaming with you. Think of all those guys who are no longer with us and wish they had an opportunity like this. Play for them. Be intimidated by their memories instead. Sluggo is just one example of the talent that we have. We don’t expect you to be the overall winners but if other teams must win. Make them work for it!

Guys, win or lose you’ve won in so many other ways. This is a tremendous accomplishment for Bermuda cricket and Bermuda. All of you are heroes that were picked because your skills and more important, the love for the game. Remember you are playing other human beings who can make mistakes and can be beaten. Big things come from small packages. Stay focused, play as a team and just do your best and have fun with the whole experience. One ball at a time!
