Breaking news: Bermuda lose to Kenya
Bermuda 259-5 Kenya 260-3
David Hemp hit a maiden ODI century in vain as Bermuda crashed to a seven-wicket defeat against Kenya at Senwes Park today.
The Bermuda vice captain struck nine fours in an unbeaten knock of 102 that surpassed the previous best by a local batsman in a One Day International.
Skipper Irving Romaine hit 101 against Canada in 2006 in Toronto, making Hemp only the second batsman to score a ton in an ODI.
Others making positive starts were Fiqre Crockwell (45), Stephen Outerbridge (31), Glenn Blakeney (30) and skipper Romaine with an unbeaten 21 in an unbroken sixth-wicket stand worth 41 runs.
Fast bowler Elijah Otiemo led the Kenyan attack with one for 13.
In reply, Kenya marched to victory with 30 balls to spare thanks to half centuries from openers Maurice Ouma (57) and Kennedy Obuya (63) and an unbeaten 60 from skipper Steve Tikolo off 71 balls.
Janeiro Tucker, Rodney Trott and Tamauri Tucker accounted for the three Kenyan wickets to tumble before Tikolo sealed his team's victory with a boundary.
To further compound Bermuda's loss, skipper Romaine (groin) and Blakeney (right hand) both left the field hurt and did not return.
Fast bowler George O'Brien Jr has been ruled of the rest of the tournament through an injured left knee.
