David Hemp struck an unbeaten century and spinner Rodney Trott seized four wickets to propel Bermuda to an eight- wicket thrashing of Oman in a World Cup qualifying playoff at Absa Park today.

Hemp, who hit a century in a losing cause against Kenya earlier this week, stroked a fluent 124 off 125 balls in 194 minutes and shared in a massive 180 second wicket stand with Stephen Outerbridge (91) who fell nine runs shy of a maiden one day century.

Hemp hit 13 fours and 3 sixes en route to capturing man of the match accolades for the third time in the tournament.

Earlier Trott spun his way to impressive match figures of four for 43 bowling unchanged from the northern end of the ground.

Fast bowler Stefan Kelly had two for 49 off 5.1 overs while Dwayne Leverock and Outerbridge had one each.

With today's win Bermuda avoided relegation to the ICC Pepsi World Cricket League Division 3 and pocketed $350,000 for the effort.

The Islanders also enhanced their chances of Intercontinental Cup qualification and qualified for the ICC Gatorade High Performance Programme which will see the ICC pump $300 million in cricket below the Test level over the next two years.

Earlier this week Bermuda blew their chances of qualifying for the 2011 World Cup after losing to the Netherlands in their final Group B match.

Bermuda will now face Uganda on Monday in a match that will determine ninth and tenth positions at the end of the tournament.
