Team to meet Premier
The national cricket team will meet with the Premier tonight, a day before their opening World Cup match with Sri Lanka.
Premier Dr. Ewart Brown and Minister of Education, Sports and Recreation Randolph Horton, are due to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago this evening when they will also meet the team.
Tomorrow when the cricketers face Sri Lanka at the famous Queen’s Park Oval, the Premier will be among the crowd.
Minister Horton said: “Our inclusion in the cricket World Cup is one of the most significant opportunities for Bermuda. I also believe that this event will claim its place as one of the most historic cricket events that Bermudians have witnessed.
“I encourage them to lift their spirits and give their best for themselves and their country.”
At the end of the week, Dr. Brown will take a temporary break from the cricket to travel to Bridgetown, Barbados to visit with Prime Minister Owen Arthur.
Dr. Brown said: “During his recent visit to Bermuda and again during last month’s CARICOM meeting in St. Vincent, Prime Minister Arthur has invited me to visit Barbados.
“He wants me to see first hand the opportunities for our countries to work together, particularly in the areas of technical and police training.”
The Premier will return to Trinidad after the meeting.
