Five star Trott too good for YMSC

Bailey’s Bay, 142 for three, beat Social Club, 139 all out, by seven wicketsBailey’s Bay proved that they will be serious Premier Division contenders yesterday with an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Social C.lub at Sea Breeze Oval, thanks to heroic performances from Latif Trott and David Lovell.Trott, son of former Bay fast-bowler Clarkie Trott, ripped Social Club’s batting apart with a sterling performance, taking five wickets for a mere 14 runs off just 7.1 overs.Lovell then followed up with a formidable batting display, scoring an unbeaten half-century as Bay coasted to victory.Even with veteran Charlie Marshall adding another season to an already distinguished Social Club career, his team’s batsmen had no answer to the spirited Bay attack, which dominated all the visitors, had to offer.Social Club lost openers Daman Rabain (two) and Dwayne Adams (five) with just 20 runs on the board. However, Garnell Hollis (32) and Rodney Trott (56) put on 69 for the third wicket as Social Club staged something of a fightback.Once Hollis departed, Trott and Marshall (21) made the bowlers toil a bit by putting on 48 for the fourth wicket before Marshall was out with the score on 137. The loss of Marshall prompted a collapse of huge proportions as Social Club lost their last six wickets for just two runs and were eventually all out for 139 in 41.1 overs. In addition to Trott’s superb bowling effort, Lovell had a creditable haul of two wickets for 38 runs off nine overs.Bay were always on course towards their winning target in response and eventually quickly raced to victory in 28.1 overs. They had no real concern against the modest bowling attack with openers Denico Hollis and Coolridge Durham putting on 49 for the opening stand, Hollis on 19 before doing first when he was run out while Durham scored 32.Skipper Stephen Outerbridge was the second dismissal departing at 61 for just seven but Durham and Lovell, who went on to strike two fours and five sixes in his half-century, put on 65 for the third wicket. Durham left just short of taking the team to victory at 127-3 but Lovell and Cal Dill Jr. (2 not out) were left to finish off the job.Kearon Trott and Rodney Trott each took a wicket for Social, Kearon with one for 15 off four overs and Rodney one for 24 off seven overs. The other was a run out.
