BCB name youth squads for winter training
Bermuda Cricket Board have named two youth squads to participate in a specialist training programme with the National Academy during the winter months. The players have been selected for the Under-13 and Under-15 squads and will be divided into their area of speciality (batting, pace bowling, spin bowling and wicketkeeping) and will be coached in technical, tactical, physical and mental domains to improve their game. They will be coached by a specialist coaching team led by national coach David Moore (batting and wicketkeeping), assistant coach Clevie Wade (batting) and Lorenzo Tucker (pace bowling). National team player and Under-18 captain Joshua Gilbert will also assist with the spin bowling, having just returned from a coaching stint in the UK.“I am very excited to have these three coaches working with our Academy squads,” said Moore. “Clevie Wade is the national team assistant coach and a renowned Bermudian batsman and international cricketer. He has a depth of tactical and technical batting knowledge and is currently completing his Cricket Australia Level III.“Lorenzo Tucker has been the BCB Fast Bowling coach for 12 months and has attended specialist fast bowling workshops at the West Indies High Performance Centre. He is a student of the game and utilises technology widely to analyse the detail of fast bowlers actions and implement technical and tactical programmes for young fast bowlers.”And coach Moore feels Gilbert, still a teenager, will be able to relate to the youngsters as he shares with them what he has learned in the game.“Joshua Gilbert is one of our international off spin bowlers who debuted for Bermuda at 16 years of age,” Moore said. “Joshua has just returned from the UK on the Youth and Sport National Junior Athlete sponsorship programme where he experienced six months of quality spin bowling coaching at the Norfolk Cricket Academy.“I am very pleased that Joshua has agreed to work with our Academy spinners and impart some of that knowledge for both his own development and the development of our young cricketers. He is wonderful role model for our aspiring young cricketers.”The specialist coaches will work alongside the Academy coaches to develop the players’ skills and to identify and resolve any technical issues players may have.Squads:Under 13s: Aziah Askia, Justin Bascome-Dickinson, Joseph Basden, Cory Burgess, Jordan Burgess, Simeon Burrows, Josi Butterfield, Jabari Darrell, Samson Douglas, Jerez Eve,Koweto Ford, Sher-maur Gomes, Isaiah Greaves, Sancho Jackson, Cameron Jeffers, Jaiden Manders, Kameren Mason, Azar Morrissey, Jade Morrissey, Jonathan Page, Nzari Paynter, Dalin Richardson, Dean Simons, Jenico Sealey, Christian Singh, Shaddi Somersall, Kevin Sunge, Yontz Sutton, Sharye Tavares, De-Nyi Thomas, Malachi Trott, Sean Tucker,Jahdae Wade, D’Andre Wainwright, Enyche Zuill.Under 15s: Jerome Bailey, Jomei Bean-Lindo, Jah Kai Benjamin, Tyejae Burchall, Solomon Burrows, Jahcobi Butterfield, Rudi Butterfield, Davin Dill, San’j Dill, Amari Ebbin, Kacy Greene, Jahkhari Hollis, Oneko Lowe, Jahtino Martin, Jai-Onni Outerbridge, Quinn Outerbridge, Shakeal Outerbridge, Alje Richardson, Antoine Seaman, Micah Simons, Chare Smith,Zion Smith, Faheem Swan, Charles Trott.Players and their parents are required to attend a National Academy meeting on next Friday (October 19) from 5.30 to 6.30pm at the BCB boardroom at Charities House on Point Finger Road in Paget.Turn-outs continue to be low for the senior national squad’s training ahead of next April’s Division Three Tournament.
