Former star wicketkeeper Allan Douglas was elected as Bermuda Cricket’s Board (BCB) newest second-vice president during the Board’s annual general meeting held at Warwick Workmen’s Club last Thursday.The national team selector, who ran against Nyon Steede, will serve in the executive post for the next three years.Steede, younger brother of former Bermuda skipper Albert Steede, has taken over in the vacant first vice-president’s postSteede, who currently plays for First Division Western Stars, was appointed second vice-president last April after predecessor Lloyd Fray was elected as BCB president in November, 2011.The BCB executive appointed Steede when no one showed interest at a meeting at BCB headquarters in Paget earlier this year.Also running for first vice-president was long-serving Devonshire Recreation Club member Lloyd Smith.The position had remained vacant since Allen Richardson resigned after losing out to Fray in the race for the BCB presidency at the 2011 AGM.The only other change to the Board’s executive at last week’s meeting was the election of former Warwick wicketkeeper Shervin Richardson as a club representative. The former Bermuda Regiment sergeant major replaced past club representative and selection committee chairman Derek Wright who opted not to seek re-election (see separate story).
