Bermuda’s senior national cricketers will return to action in Florida today. The Islanders will lock horns with hosts USA at Brian Piccolo Park in the first of three 50 overs matches. The remaining matches scheduled for Thursday and Friday will be held at Central Broward Recreational Park, Bermuda manager Lionel Tannock confirmed.Interim national coach Arnold Manders made three changes to his line-up for Bermuda’s previous match with Suriname with Jason Anderson, Dennico Hollis and Sammy Robinson replacing Lionel Cann, Jacobi Robinson and Greg Maybury. And he could possibly make additional changes ahead of today’s match with the arrival of promising all-rounder Delray Rawlins who was due to join the squad in Florida yesterday.Manders is confident his players will make a seamless transition from T20 to 50 overs cricket.“I’m not bothered about the 50 overs format because we bat deep and that just gives us more time to settle,” he said. “The only thing I’m concerned about in the 50 overs matches is that we have a lot of aching players.”Two of Bermuda’s losses in the Americas Division 1 T20 came at the hands of USA.Manders believes his players did not play to their potential in their previous matches with the United States.“I think we could’ve played a lot better than we did against them,” he said. “And that’s something we have to address before April (World Cricket League Division Three).”Bermuda’s other loss was against Suriname, a match which saw all rounder Malachi Jones open the batting with Tre Manders who was also promoted up the order. The Island’s cricketers had yesterday off to recover from their recent involvement in the ICC Americas Division 1 T20 tournament. The senior national team finished runners up behind USA in the points standings to secure passage to November’s ICC World T20 global qualifiers in Dubai along with their hosts.Bermuda’s other regional rivals Canada will also compete at global World T20 qualifiers. The Canadians did not participate in the Americas Division 1 T20 due to a scheduling conflict with other international commitments.Bermuda posted a record of five wins and three loses at the recently concluded Americas Division 1 T20.Several of Bermuda’s cricketers stood out among the crowd during the regional tournament. All rounder Janeiro Tucker was Bermuda’s top performer with 304 runs, a tournament high 13 wickets along with team mate Jones and Suriname’s Sauid Drepaul as well as a tournament best seven catches.Former Bermuda skipper David Hemp (229) was the fourth highest run getter of the tournament while Dion Stovell (189) was sixth respectively.Seamer Maybury’s eight wicket haul was the tenth best of the tournament while skipper Stephen Outerbridge (four) and Hemp (four) held the third most catches.
