Another no-show by umpires as Flatts beat Rec.

Devonshire Rec 97Flatts 98-5James Celestine and Reggie Baker stroked 42 and 43 respectively as Flatts beat Devonshire Rec by five wickets in last night’s Lindo’s T20 Group A match at Devonshire Rec. After The number three and four batsmen came together after Flatts lost a couple of early wickets and set about pacing the team towards victory with a useful partnership as they punished the Rec bowlers.Celestine was finally caught behind after dominating the partnership, hitting six fours and two sixes before the left-handed Baker then took over the senior role after Celestine’s departure and kept the team on course for victory. Baker hit three sixes and three fours to finish on 43 not out as he sealed victory with a six.Jody Maroni was the pick of the Rec bowlers with two for eight. Earlier, opener Dion Ball scored 27, Stephen Bremar 14 and Toriano Henry 14 not out in the Rec total of 97.Logan Phillips claimed four for 13 off three overs to lead the Flatts bowling while Kyjuan Franks, who plays football for Devonshire Cougars, supported with three for 15 from four overs.For the second T20 game this week no official umpires showed up for the match, leaving club representatives to officiate. As was the case in Somerset on Wednesday night, again the red ball was difficult to spot as darkness fell and the lights were switched on.
