Leg Byes look to complete the double

Fine Leg Byes remain on course to complete the Evening Cricket League's Premier Division double after avenging defeat in last year's knockout final by beating The Associates by 19 runs in their semi-final at Shelly Bay on Wednesday night.

Fine Leg Byes posted 109-4 from 15 overs after being sent in and then restricted The Associates to 90-7.

Having easily defended their league title this season, Fine Leg Byes' opponents in the September 21 knockout final will be Tuff Dogs, who won their semi-final by beating West XI by eight wickets.

Tuff Dogs chased down West's 96-6 from 15 overs with more than an over to spare.

“They outplayed us,” admitted player and league organiser Stephen West.

“That's the third time they have beaten us this season.”

In the Second Division, league winners PWC Byes, who won last season's knockout final by beating league champions Renegades, will face fourth-placed De Wicketest on Friday night. Marine & Ports were due to take on Deloitte.
