Douglas wins sportsman award

In the runs: Douglas, the Devonshire Rec batsman, has made a strong start to the season

Chris Douglas of Devonshire Recreation Club landed a second award to go with his Logic Player of the Week award after last weekend’s performances.

Douglas, who was named the first Logic First Division Player of the Week after scoring 128 not out against Somerset Bridge, was also acknowledged for good sportsmanship in the match at Devonshire Recreation Club, winning the Chivas Cricket Sportsman Award.

According to the Bermuda Cricket Board, Douglas showed leadership, sportsmanship and camaraderie throughout the game, displaying a courteous and respectful conduct.

During his innings Douglas continually encouraged his batting partner Oldapo Frederick who scored his first ever century as the two batsmen enjoyed a partnership of over 200 runs. Douglas noted that accomplishment was even more satisfying than his own personal total, his first century for the club after transferring from Willow Cuts.

Douglas has set some goals for himself and his new team this season, including a personal goal to score at least five centuries during the season and for his team to go through the season undefeated in the league.

Presenting the award on behalf of Gosling’s was Victoria Esposito and Neil Speight of the Bermuda Cricket Board.
