Rawlins back in squad for Leicestershire clash

Rawlins is back in the Sussex first XI

Delray Rawlins has been included in the Sussex squad for their Specsavers County Championship Division Two match against Leicestershire at Grace Road, starting today.

The Bermudian all-rounder returns to the team after a stint in the Second Elevens and comes in along with George Garton, the left arm seamer who has been in action for the England Lions. Garton replaces Steve Magoffin who has been ruled out for six to eight weeks with an Achilles injured.

Chris Nash will continue to captain the team where a number of injuries are still hindering selection. Ben Brown remains sidelined with a broken finger and whilst Laurie Evans, Matt Machan and Ollie Robinson are all making good progress from their respective injuries, they are not yet fit enough to be included in the squad.

South African Vernon Philander, who had matches figures of six for 102 in the last match against Worcestershire, will play the final game of his overseas stint.

After Monday’s victory over Worcestershire, Sussex lie fifth in the table and are aiming for their third win in four games in the four-day format. They are unbeaten in their last six matches against Leicestershire and have claimed wins in each of their last three away games against the Foxes.

Squad: Jofra Archer, Danny Briggs, Michael Burgess (wkt), Harry Finch, George Garton, Chris Jordan, Chris Nash (captain), Vernon Philander, Delray Rawlins, Stiaan van Zyl, Luke Wells, David Wiese, Luke Wright.
