Rawlins top scores for Sussex with 39

Bermuda's Rawlins continues to impress at Sussex

Delray Rawlins and his Sussex Second XI team-mates continued their fine form in the Twenty 20 competition this week.

The visiting Sussex split a T20 double-header against Surrey at New Malden Cricket Club on Tuesday.

Sussex won the first game by eight wickets to make it five wins out of six in this season’s T20, with Rawlins, the slow left-arm bowler, claiming two for 19 to help restrict the home side to 111.

Ajmal Shahzad was the pick of the Sussex bowlers with three for 29 while Ollie Robinson took two for 17.

Angus Robson led the Sussex run chase with 59 off 45 balls.

Phil Salt scored 27 before Laurie Evans marked his return from injury by stroking an unbeaten 20 from 22 deliveries that included four boundaries.

The home side avenged defeat in the second match which they won by eight wickets.

Sussex were dismissed for 136 with Rawlins top scoring with 39. Robson, who added 35, and Jonty Jenner, who scored 23, were the only other Sussex batsmen in double figures. Ollie Pope top scored for Surrey with an unbeaten 80. Rawlins was in action yesterday during the opening day of Sussex Second XIs three-day Championship fixture against MCC Universities at Horntye Park Hastings.
