Bailey’s Bay have decided not to change a winning team for the Eastern Counties final against Cleveland at Sea Breeze Oval tomorrow.

The Bay selection panel, led by Noel Gibbons, came out of a two-hour meeting on Wednesday night to announce that the same team that defeated Flatts in the second round will again go into battle.

The only changes were made to the reserves with Zakao Hart replacing Sancho Jackon to join Coolidge Durham and Sharye Tavares on standby.

Gus Logie, the Bay coach, is expecting his players to put up a similar display to the one they produced in their six-wicket win against Flatts.

“We expect the team to have the same approach as they did against Flatts and the players to acquit themselves well,” Logie said.

“The captain had a chat with the players and we expect them to respond in a positive manner.

“We had two days of training on Monday and Tuesday, and we chatted with the players individually on Wednesday. Some of our players are involved with the national team so they are playing a lot of cricket.

“I trust that the weather will hold and the spectators are treated to a good game of cricket.”

Bay president Stephen Outerbridge, a five-times winner, is excited to represent Bay in yet another final but fears the weather may play a part on the day with Tropical Storm Idalia scheduled to strike Bermuda this weekend.

“The pending storms are obviously the cloud that’s hanging over all of us here,’’ Outerbridge said.

“It doesn't look like it’s getting any better, I am not really expecting too much on Saturday but stranger things have happened so I will stay prepared, looking forward to hopefully a beautiful day and an exciting day of cricket between two competitive sides.

“Bailey’s Bay are definitely up for it. There has been a lot of chat about this one fixture for a few months. We'd definitely love to get into the park and showcase our talents and I’m sure each player that’s been selected is definitely up for the challenge.”

Azendé Furbert, dismissed for five runs by Kamau Leverock against Flatts, has a good record against Cleveland and is keen to continue his fine run.

“The last match we played Cleveland was the Knockout Cup final and I scored 56 before the game was cancelled because of rain. The last time in county I got 40-something even though it was years ago.

“All of us players know what this game means so we will do our best to retain the trophy and hopefully make history and win all the cups available.”

Kyle Hodsoll is delighted to get the nod for the final, with the 34-year old eager to play his part in maintaining Bay’s fine run this season, with this scheduled to be his fourth appearance in an Eastern Counties Cup final.

“It always feels good to get selected especially for an Eastern Counties final,’’ he said.

“As far as my expectations for the final, I am looking forward to us continuing to play and maintain our winning streak in the competition.”
