Isis Tucker levels up sports media skills at BCB
Isis Tucker has gained a “deeper appreciation” for sports media and content creation during a summer internship at the Bermuda Cricket Board.
Over the past month, the Saltus Grammar School student has worked with the BCB as a digital media intern, creating promotional video content that covers cricket matches, youth cricket camps and interviews with coaches and players.
“As part of my role, I captured and edited footage for the BCB’s Instagram page, with additional content in progress for their website,” Tucker commented.
“This hands-on experience has helped me develop valuable technical and creative skills, from learning how to shoot compelling footage to editing and producing videos that connect with an audience.
“Thanks to the guidance and support from BCB’s Cal Blankendal [executive director] and Samantha Robinson [administrative assistant], I have not only developed my media skills, but also gained more confidence behind the camera.
“Before this opportunity, I had never created sports or interview-style videos. Now, I feel much more comfortable capturing the footage I need and bringing a story together through editing.”
The 16-year-old intends to pursue Business and Film & Media studies in Canada or the United States after she graduates from Saltus next year.
“I’m passionate about the power of the media to tell stories, build communities and amplify voices. This experience has been an exciting step in that journey,” Tucker said.
“This opportunity with the BCB has given me a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into sports media and content creation, and I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to be part of it.”
