All change at Somerset as Ray joins but Proctor departs
There has been plenty of movement on the playing roster at Somerset Cricket Club with star female player Brianna Ray joining the club as Bermuda international and Cup Match player Jermal Proctor departs.
Ray, who played in the Somerset Cup Match trials and represented the club in Colts Cup Match, joins the West Enders from Flatts, while Proctor has moved to Cleveland County. The players were two of 26 individu theals to move during Bermuda Cricket Board transfer window, which closed last Friday.
Proctor is one of three players heading to the Eastern Counties champions alongside Clay Darrell and Shaquille Pitcher.
Also making the switch with Ray from Flatts to Somerset is Jan-Johan Nel. The left-handed batter, who was called up to the Bermuda squad for two T20 friendly matches against an Americas Select side in 2024, has been a consistent performer for the Smith’s-based side.
Callum MacFarlane, Kwasi James and Cup Match player Zeri Tomlinson have further strengthened Janeiro Tucker’s Somerset arsenal.
Somerset and Southampton Rangers were the busiest of the teams during the transfer window as they signed five players each.
Rangers made the most of the period by picking up former Bermuda captain Delray Rawlins, Deunte Darrell, Allan Douglas Jr and the Bascome brothers, Onias and Oronde.
Bailey’s Bay have brought in four players, with Jaiden Manders the most notable recruit.
Veteran Treadwell Gibbons has gone to Flatts from Somerset Bridge. Jamin Furbert, Temiko Wilson and Ryan Tyrell are the other players boosting Ryan Belboda’s numbers.
St George’s have De-Nyi Thomas, Keegan Jones and Sa-Qui Robinson heading East for the new season.
Warwick Workmen’s Club secured the services of Kevon Fubler and Seth Campbell. Fubler is one of four players leaving St David’s, with Tre Manders heading back to Western Stars.
