Bermuda’s cricketers will have to wait a bit longer for a return to international competition after the North American Cup was postponed.

Originally scheduled to take place next month in Cayman Islands, the five-team tournament was due to feature Bermuda taking on the United States, Canada, Bahamas and the host nation.

But the tournament has now been put back until after Cup Match with new dates from September 20 to September 27.

The Bermuda Cricket Board blamed a number of factors for the decision to reschedule the competition.

“This unified decision follows extensive and constructive discussions among all participating members,” the BCB said.

“The postponement reflects a combination of logistical challenges, global travel concerns and international match-fixture commitments that collectively impact the ability of teams and organisers to deliver the event as originally planned for April 4 to 12, 2026.

“All member boards remain committed to delivering a premier regional competition that continues to elevate the profile and development of cricket across the ICC Americas North American region.”

The removal of the tournament means Bermuda’s top cricketers are unlikely to have any international competition before the island hosts the T20 World Cup Americas Sub-Regional Qualifier in June, which acts as the start of the qualifying campaign for the 2028 ICC T20 World Cup.
