Arrests made after attack on vulnerable man

Three men and a woman were arrested after a brutal attack on a vulnerable man in Hamilton in the early hours of yesterday.

The group hit the victim several times with an object and punched him on the head and body.

A police spokesman said the victim escaped his attackers and was later seen by police.

He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries, which were not thought to be life-threatening.

The incident happened in the Elliott Street car park at about 2.20am.

The alleged attackers were arrested after police examined CCTV footage of the area.

They are expected to appear in court in the near future.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
