Thieves rob guest house

Police were yesterday searching for thieves who made off with cash from a guest house.

Two men are said to have entered the Southampton property and demanded cash from the front desk.

One of the men was said to be wielding a blunt object.

No-one was hurt in the incident, which took place at 9.50pm on Tuesday.

The thieves are described as tall black men of medium build.

“There was a heightened police presence in the area at the time as officers had been made aware of two men riding a motorcycle in the vicinity with a covered licence plate,” said a spokesman.

“In fact, the Bermuda Police Service has increased patrol resources Island-wide including in the City of Hamilton for the Christmas period. We continue to encourage businesses to take proactive crime prevention measures such as leaving a small float or ideally no float on the property overnight, as well as installing a panic alarm and CCTV system on the premises. The public can also assist in deterring criminal activity by reporting any suspicious individuals or activity to Police at the earliest opportunity.”

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity on Middle Road, Southampton around 9.45pm is asked to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234 -1010.
