Police issue burglary warning

Police yesterday reminded residents to secure their properties in light of recent burglaries.

Electronics, jewellery and cash have been stolen from homes, a Police spokesman said.

He advised all residents to make sure windows and doors are locked before they leave home and that their valuables are placed safely away.

“We also recommend that all residents secure their valuables out of sight, record serial numbers of all items and take pictures of their possessions, in particular electronic equipment and items of jewellery, so that if they are stolen and later recovered, there is an accurate way of identifying them.

“Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods to the police by contacting 295-0011.”
