Woman hurt in handbag snatch incident

A woman was injured when two men snatched her handbag on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the 49-year-old victim was walking in the Spring Hill area of Warwick around 9am when the culprits rode alongside her on a motorbike.

“The passenger of the bike grabbed her handbag. A brief struggle ensued between the passenger and the Warwick woman before the suspects made good their escape with the handbag, which contained a wallet and personal items,” said a police spokesman.

“The suspects are described as two males on a black motorcycle, wearing all black clothing and black helmets with full faced visors. The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to KEMH via ambulance for treatment. She was later released.”

Anyone with information about the crime should call the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
