Police issue warning after a series of break-ins

Residents are being urged to secure their homes following a spate of break-ins across the island.A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service warned that properties needed to securely locked even when being left unoccupied for short periods and that suspicious activity needed to be reported.“We also continue to recommend that all residents secure their valuables out of sight, record serial numbers and details of all personal items as well as photograph their possessions — in particular electronic equipment and jewellery — so that if they are stolen and later recovered, there is an accurate way of identifying them,” the spokesman added.Any suspicious activity should be reported at the earliest opportunity by contacting the nearest police station or calling the main police number 295-0011.
