Motorcyclist on stolen cycle crashes

The Bermuda Police Service reported a relatively quiet Easter holiday weekend.Officers on mobile patrol in Sandys Parish in the area of Somerset Road and Hook and Ladder Lane around 3.40am on Sunday apprehended a motorcycle rider who was “acting suspiciously”.A spokesman said: “Officers approached the cycle in an attempt to make initial contact with the rider.“However, the rider tried to make good his escape but lost control of his cycle and was apprehended by the police.“Checks by Officers revealed the cycle was stolen. The man was arrested and taken to the police station where he was processed and detained.”Meanwhile, on Good Friday around 9.55pm mobile patrol officers in Hamilton Parish noticed a driver operating his vehicle at “high speeds and swerving over the centre-line”.The vehicle was eventually stopped by police in the area of My Lord’s Bay Road.When the officers spoke to the driver of the car they “smelled alcohol on the suspect’s breath”.A spokesman said: “The 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and later bailed to appear in court in the near future.”
