Police urge witnesses to come forward

The aftermath of the shooting in Morgan's Road

Police have urged members of the public to come forward with information about a recent non-fatal shooting in Warwick.

At around 9pm on December 14, two men on a dark coloured motorcycle travelling south on Morgan’s Road opened fire on a group of young people sitting on a wall outside a home, shooting a 17-year-old in the leg.

A police spokesman said yesterday morning that the teenage victim was still being treated, but was making positive steps to a full recovery.

Sergeant Jason Smith, who is leading the investigation, said: “There is someone that knows something whether it be the circumstances that caused this incident to take place or the identity of the shooters or even where the firearm may be.

“No matter how insignificant you believe your information may be, we would like to hear from you.

“We cannot allow the worst of us to define the rest of us.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the Confidential Crime Stoppers Hotline on 800-8477.
