Man injured in bladed article attack

A 19-year-old man suffered injuries to his face yesterday after two men with a bladed article set upon him at the staff area of the Whaler Inn Beach.

The Fairmont Southampton worker was taken to hospital, while police sought two suspects who left the area on a motorcycle.

Authorities attended the beach, just west of Horseshoe Bay, at about 1.20pm yesterday.

No details were given as to the extent of the man’s injuries, and descriptions of the assailants were limited to one wearing a black helmet and black clothing, while the other wore a white helmet with a visor.

The Fairmont Southampton said the safety of guests and colleagues was a priority, and that the property was safe.

“It appears this was an isolated incident directed at a specific individual over issues unrelated to the hotel,” the resort added. “We are co-operating fully with the Bermuda Police. Our thoughts are with the colleague who was injured, and we will be supporting him in his recovery.”
