Suspect identified over Court Street shooting

Police say they have identified a suspect in connection with a shooting incident on Court Street on Sunday. It happened near Elliott Street shortly after 6pm and, according to police, stemmed from a confrontation between two men.

One of them, aged 34, sustained a superficial wound after he was shot at, police said. It was not immediately clear how many shots were fired, however initial reports of the incident indicated that multiple shots had been heard.

Police began their investigation after being contacted by the victim.

“We are aware that there were several persons in the area and motorists that travelled along Court Street at the time of this shooting,” police said in a release issued yesterday.

“We want to hear from you.”

A suspect has been identified, police said, however no additional information was provided.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Jason Smith of the Serious Crime Unit on 717-0864 or via e-mail at Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 800-8477.
