Police raid nets $648,000 cannabis haul

A 48-year-old man was arrested yesterday after police seized $648,000 of cannabis in an early morning raid at a home.

A police spokesman said the drug was hidden in furniture.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels, praised “the usual high level of investigative work done by the members of our Drugs Unit”.

Police worked with Customs officers on the investigation.

Mr Daniels said combined efforts continued to ensure that “not only controlled drugs, but other forms of contraband, including illegal firearms, are kept off our streets”.

Detective Superintendent Nicholas Pedro, the officer in charge, said a court appearance was expected once the drugs had been analysed.
