The driver of a car involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The suspect was arrested after the collision on Knapton Estate Road in Smith’s on June 24, in which motorbike rider Ra-Che Williams, 23, was killed.

Yesterday police confirmed that the suspect and the car’s passenger were arrested but had since had been released.

Chief Inspector Robert Cardwell said: “We had two people in custody and they are now on bail. The investigation is alive now.”

Investigators are now working to establish the cause of the accident.
