Man in hospital with serious injuries after stabbing

A 29-year-old man was yesterday in hospital with serious injuries after he was stabbed yesterday near a sports club.

Police said the man was on his way to a football match at Southampton Rangers Sports Club when he was assaulted by two men just outside the club at around 4pm.

He suffered several stab wounds but made it to the club’s entrance, where security guards assisted him until an ambulance arrived.

Police said the man was still being treated for his injuries the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Tinee Furbert, the acting national security minister, said: “The reports of last night’s stabbing, which has left someone with serious injuries, is very concerning.

She added: “We are mere weeks away from the Christmas holiday and have another incident of callous disregard for human life.“
