A robber smashed his way into a gas station in Hamilton Parish on Saturday morning and escaped with packets of cigarettes.

The incident happened at the Crawl Hill Tigermart gas station at around 5am.

Although no gas station employees were on site at the time, two members of staff from the station’s Buzz concession were at work.

The station’s owner said they saw the robber, wearing a helmet, approach the station brandishing a hammer. He smashed through the glass door of the premises before gaining entry.

At that point the two Buzz employees fled to a back room.

The robber grabbed several packets of cigarettes before escaping.

Police forensically examined the crime scene on Saturday. No response to requests for an update from the Bermuda Police Service were received by press time yesterday.
