Man stabbed to death at Horseshoe Bay car park

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found with stab wounds at Horseshoe Bay car park on Friday night and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

“Shortly after 11pm, police received a report of an altercation in the car park of Horseshoe Bay, Southampton,” a spokesman said.

“Upon police arrival, a number of individuals fled the scene. However, police were informed that two males sustained stab wounds during an earlier incident at the car park.

“Police and paramedics attended to the two victims, one of whom bore stab wounds to the chest. He was rushed to hospital by ambulance for treatment to his injuries, but was subsequently pronounced dead.”

The second male was attended to at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for a stab wound to his arm that was not considered life-threatening.

The spokesman added: “Police are urging anyone with information on this matter to please call 211, the main police number 295-0011 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477.”

The investigating officer, Detective Inspector Jason Smith, said: “There were several young people in the car park when this unfortunate incident occurred. Parents, if your child should come home talking about this incident, please get in contact with police.”

No further information will be provided until all next of kin of the deceased have been informed.

Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security, sent his condolences this afternoon to the family of the murdered man and wished the injured man a speedy recovery.

Mr Weeks added: “We must always condemn violent incidents like these, and the community violence issue will continue to require our collective attention and focus.

“I urge anyone who may have information about this incident or may have been a witness to assist the Bermuda Police Service with their inquiries.”

Eighth murder of 2022

Daemon Bell, 49, died in Shelly Bay on February 2 after what police described as an altercation. A man was charged later with his murder.

Laje Franklin, 18, was fatally shot near Clearwater Beach in St David’s on April 5.

Che Jennings, 24, was fatally shot outside Warwick Workmen’s Club on April 7.

Keyoshe Robinson, 22, was found on St George’s golf course on May 4. Police said he appeared to have been shot.

Keith Gordon, 70, was found dead in his Hamilton residence on June 11, the day after an altercation on Victoria Street. The incident became a murder investigation two weeks later.

Latrae Doeman, 19, is gunned down in Flatts in the early hours of July 1. A second man is injured in the drive-by shooting.

Marcus Wilson, 30, is stabbed to death in a disturbance on Astwood Walk, Warwick on the evening of August 20.

An unidentified man is stabbed to death in an altercation at the Horseshoe Bay, Southampton car park on the evening of September 9.
