Police appeal for witnesses to park stabbing

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in the leg in a Hamilton park yesterday.

Eyewitnesses saw the 31-year-old victim walking through Queen Elizabeth Park before collapsing at about 5.15pm.

Police and emergency medical technicians were called and discovered that the man had a stab wound to his leg.

He was initially treated by EMTs at the scene and then transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital before being released.

The scene has been processed by the police and inquiries continue regarding the circumstances of the incident.

Any witnesses who may have seen an altercation in the park at about 5pm are asked to call the Criminal Investigations Department on 247-1744, or 211.
