Police: man injured in knifepoint robbery

A 55-year-old man was treated in hospital after he was reportedly attacked and robbed last night in Sandys by a group of men, one armed with a knife.

The victim was set upon in the car park of Mr Chicken on Somerset Road at about 10.30pm.

Police said his injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, included lacerations to his face and arm.

One of the suspects is described as a tall brown-skinned male, who is alleged to have taken a quantity of jewellery, cash and a mobile phone.

The other three suspects were dressed in dark clothing.

The four fled in the direction of Cambridge Road.

The victim was helped bystanders and taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where at last check he was getting treatment.
