Two men have been arrested as part of an investigation into the murder last month of Wilfred Outerbridge Jr, police said.

A 26-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder and undisclosed items seized in the early hours of Friday during the execution of a firearms warrant at a Smith’s home.

A second suspect, also 26, who was being sought in connection with Mr Outerbridge’s murder, was arrested the same day when police with the help of the Royal Bermuda Regiment Coastguard intercepted a vessel in local waters at about 12.30pm.

Both men were bailed pending further investigation.

Mr Outerbridge, a father of three, died in hospital after he was shot several times at his home by the Railway Trail in Warwick at 9pm on November 21.

Police performed life-saving treatment at the scene until the arrival of EMTs, but the 35-year-old succumbed to his injuries.

Police said they were seeking details on two suspects on a light-coloured bike who were seen in the area.

The attack marked the island’s third murder this year and the second in which firearms were used.

It was condemned by Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security, who said: “I am appalled by the continuance of this absurd violence that has claimed the life of another Black male.”

Separately, police announced that they had carried out a second firearms warrant on Saturday at “a location” in St George’s, with two firearms seized along with several rounds of ammunition.

The raid was also said to yield a quantity of suspected controlled drugs, along with cash.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested and bailed in connection with that investigation.

Anyone with potential information on Mr Outerbridge’s murder, or regarding the items recovered on Saturday at the East End, is asked to call Detective Sergeant Odessa Philip on 717-2193 or e-mail ophilip@bps.bm.

The public can also share details with any police officer, or via the online community reporting portal.
