Police arrest man after recovering gun and ammunition

Police recovered a firearm and ammunition on Sunday night from Park Lane in Pembroke.

A spokesman said that at about 12.30am, officers were on mobile patrol in the area when they approached a small group of people.

“Upon seeing the officers, a male member of the group ran off and dropped a number of items as he fled,” the spokesman said.

“Officers recovered the items, which included a firearm and a quantity of ammunition. The subject was subsequently arrested after he was discovered hiding at a nearby residence.

“An investigation into this matter is under way.”
