Road ban for woman caught driving under the influence

A 19-year-old woman was fined $1,500 and banned from the roads for 18 months after she admitted driving while impaired.

Correne Archeval, of Southampton, was driving in Pembroke at 3.25am on January 1, 2023, when police saw her dismount her motorcycle, causing traffic to take evasive action, Magistrates’ Court heard.

Police followed the woman and saw her swerving between lanes.

They turned on their sirens and pursued her until she came to a stop at the junction of Court Street and Church Street.

Police noticed that she was unsteady on her feet and smelt of alcohol.

Archeval, who now lives in the United States, admitted that she had been drinking alcohol and was arrested.

She appeared in court yesterday before magistrate Maria Sofianos, who issued the fine and ban.
