Overseas woman charged with importing $1.8m of cannabis

A Canadian woman has been charged with importing almost $1.8 million worth of cannabis and conspiring with others on the island to import it.

Mara Faiazza, 25, was not required to enter a plea in Magistrates’ Court because the offence is indictable and will be tried in the Supreme Court.

She was further charged with possessing the substance with intent to supply.

Ms Faiazza was released on $100,000 bail with one like surety.

The defendant was required to provide proof of stay at a local address.

She will be fitted with an electronic monitoring device, must adhere to a curfew from 8pm to 8am, and is to appear at the arraignments session on July 1.
