Police have dispelled rumours that a suspect believed to have been injured in a West End shooting last week had died from their wounds.

A police spokesman acknowledged a rumour circulating that a person sought after the Legends Bar shooting last Thursday in Somerset had succumbed to their injuries.

He said: “Our investigations have found no evidence to substantiate these claims.”

The spokesman added: “However, we urge that if anyone has been injured that the individual, or those who may be looking after them, contact us so that we might assist in helping that person obtain any medical care they require.

“Alternatively, the individual should be taken directly to hospital, if their injuries are believed to be serious or life-threatening.”

The shooting, which involved four suspects entering the bar at about 10.30pm, claimed the lives of Jasmine Smith, 32, and Shaquan Williams, 29.

One suspect was arrested at the weekend.

Police urged anyone with information about anyone believed to be involved not to share it on social media and especially not with images.

Instead, they should contact Acting Superintendent Jason Smith on 717-0864 or by e-mail at jsmith2@bps.bm.

Information can also be given to the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers line, 800-8477, or through the police’s community reporting portal on portal.police.bm.
