Police say social media posts could hamper investigation
Police have requested that members of the public refrain from circulating social-media posts that make allegations about an investigation into the death of a woman.
A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said the posts referred to Honee Smith, who was found unresponsive near Warwick Playground on Thursday morning and later succumbed to her injuries.
The spokesman said: “The BPS are requesting that should you receive these messages or posts, you do not forward them on, and instead delete them from your device.
“This social-media activity could hamper the investigation, as well as negatively impact any possible future prosecution.
“Also of concern is the risk to the safety and wellbeing of persons identified.
“Please allow us to complete our investigations and do not intervene against any persons identified in those posts. Doing so could result in your arrest and/or prosecution.”
Anyone with information that may be important to the investigation should contact Detective Sergeant Kendy Swainson on 717-2355 or e-mail kswainson@bps.bm.
