Police executed a warrant on Court Street this afternoon as they continued what was described only as an investigation.

Officers blocked off the area between Elliot Street and Angle Street in Hamilton at about 5pm.

Police could be seen entering an establishment at the former Swinging Doors.

The section was blocked off for about 2½ hours.

A police spokesman said: “We wish to thank the public for their co-operation and understanding during this exercise.

“With the investigation at a very sensitive stage, it would not be prudent to provide any further information at this time.”

Video footage of the incident was uploaded to social media, which showed a significant police presence at the scene.
