Police responded to reports of a firearm incident on St Mary’s Road in Warwick this evening.

The Bermuda Police Service said initial details indicated that a lone gunman wearing dark clothing discharged a firearm outside a home in the area at about 6.50pm.

It was understood that the suspect then escaped on a motorcycle.

No one was injured and the scene was being forensically processed.

At the scene, Sergeant Jerry Waterman said: “The information we have right now is limited. We haven’t obtained much. We’re still conducting early investigations.”

He confirmed that people were in the property that was targeted in the shooting.

Asked if any physical evidence such as bullet casings had been found at the scene, a police spokesman said: “There was forensic evidence recovered that would indicate a firearm was discharged.”

Inquiries were under way and any witnesses were asked to call 211, the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477 or use the Bermuda Police Service community reporting portal portal.police.bm.
